Ryall, M. E. (30 May 2007). Parsley, sage and rosemary. Washburn County Register, p. 28.

Parsley, sage and rosemary.

By Mary Ellen Ryall

Lakeland Manor's herb garden is planted. Ray has already been harvesting some chives. He suggested that the chives be cut with scissors. "They taste great chopped up and added to cottage cheese," Ray said. Nancy wanted to know if there were chives in the herb garden. She was delighted to know that the perennial culinary and aromatic herbs are for the residents' use. She told me her mother always grew chives. The chive flowers are about to burst this week.

Other culinary herbs in the Little Bird and Boy Garden are lavender, thyme, rosemary, sage, oregano, and parsley. Diane Dryden donated French tarragon. We added a natural bug deterrent with the colorful marigolds and edible borage and nasturtiums blooms. No wonder they write songs about parsley, sage, and rosemary. Look how much fun it is!
